Produced until 2010, the 16610 closed out the pre-ceramic era with everything that made the Submariner an icon: the aluminium bezel insert that ages with character, a glossy black dial with white gold markers, slimmer lugs than the maxi case that followed, and the calibre 3135, one of the most dependable automatic movements ever made. Collectors increasingly regard this reference as the sweet spot between vintage charm and modern reliability, and it wears slimmer and more comfortably than any Submariner since.
